HARTFORD, Conn. – The 2nd-ranked Trinity College Women's Squash team dominated visiting 20th-ranked Bates College, sweeping the match 9-0 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) showdown at the George A. Kellner Squash Courts on Sunday afternoon. With the victory, the Bantams improve to 4-0 on the season, while the Bobcats fall to 2-1 overall.
Trinity continued its strong performance, securing the NESCAC win without dropping a single set. At the #1 spot, senior Malak Moustafa earned a commanding 3-0 victory (11-6, 11-2, 11-4) over Navya Gupta. Junior Kara Lincou triumphed 3-0 (11-4, 11-5, 11-5) against Grace Flaherty in the #2 match, while senior Janna Ashmawy posted a 3-0 win (11-4, 11-5, 11-5) over Scarlett Hine at #3.
In the #4 match, senior Lulu Palacios Benitez defeated Yasmine Khan 3-0 (11-8, 11-6, 13-11), and junior Fabiola Cabello dispatched Tia Billimoria 3-0 (15-13, 11-4, 11-5) at #5.
First-year Elisenda Ruiz-Kaiser Ferrer earned a 3-0 victory (11-1, 11-9, 11-1) over Savannah Thomson in the #6 match, while first-year Varvara Esina cruised to a 3-0 win (11-2, 11-2, 11-4) over Angelina Amastal at #7. First-year Katherine Fox dominated Neha Taneja 3-0 (11-1, 11-3, 11-4) at #8, and junior Zaynab Khan completed the sweep with a 3-0 victory (11-6, 11-3, 11-3) over Dainalee Velez in the #9 match.
The Bantams will next travel to the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, January 11, for a 1:00 PM match against UPenn.
