Men's Swimming and Diving Honors Seniors During Home Meet Against Springfield

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Swimming and Diving team were bested in the lanes 176-102.5  as they hosted Springfield College in the Trinity Natatorium. The Bantams drop their record 3-6 on the season, while the Pride rose to a 6-4 record 

Prior to the meet Trinity College honored the four 2024 senior members on the Men's Swimming and Diving team: Jack Brown, James Carroll III, Collin Leonard, and Dillon McDermott

Bantams Graduate Quin Woods set a new pool record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.16. Junior Matthew Brown set a new pool record in the 200-yard free at 1:43.86 as the lead swimmer in the 800-yard free relay. 

From the Diving platforms, Bantams' Owen Schmidt placed second overall with a score of 199.04 in the 1M dive and in the 3M dive with a tallied score of 181.34. 

Trinity recorded four first place finishes between Dillion McDermott and Quin Woods. McDermott placed gold in the 50-yard backstroke (24.88) and 50-yard butterfly (23.09). Woods collected first place finishes in the 50-yard breaststroke ( 27.01) and the 100-yard breaststroke (58.16) against the Pride.

Within the lanes the Bantams recorded second place finishes in multiple events including Matthew Brown in both the 100-yard butterfly (51.44) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.31). Ben Broxson (50-yard freestyle, 22.21), Colin Leonard (100-yard free, 48.59), and Patty Cadogan (100-yard backstroke, 55.99) added second place finishes throughout the day for Trinity. In the final event of the day the relay team of Brown, McDermott, Ernesto Solana and Leonard took silver in the 800-yard free relay  finishing with a time of 7:08.10, just under two seconds behind Springfields team.
