Bantams Collected First Conference Win, Besting Bobcats 13-8

LEWISTON, ME - Trinity College Men's Lacrosse visited the Bates College Bobcats for a regular season New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) bout that ended with a final score of 13-8 in favor of the Bantams. The Bantams' now enter the bulk of NESCAC play with a 5-4 overall record and 1-3 within conference, while Bates falls 3-6 overall and 0-5 in conference. Trinity will face fellow NESCAC member Connecticut College this Wednesday, 4/3 at 7 pm on the road. 

The Bantams netted the first seven goals of the game over the course of the first quarter and into five minutes of play in the second. Jay Ottomanelli opened up the scoring for Trinity with two back-to-back goals, along with two goals from sophomore Bo Page to build up the 7-0 run to begin conference play. Hayden Shin shagged 8 ground balls for a team-high, the junior is also currently second in the conference with a total of 59, averaging 6.56 a game. John Cowdrick added two caused turnovers, making this his 17th of the season placing him second in the NESCAC averaging 1.89 per game.

The Bantams entered the half leading 9-2, the Bobcats were able to slow Trinity down holding them to only four goals in the second half. The Bantams took 45 shots, while the Bobcats followed closely with 40.  Trinity led all the stat lines marginally picking up 51-to-45 ground balls, winning 13-to-12 face offs, and registering a successful clear percentage of 85.7% over Bates' 72.4%.
