WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Trinity College Men's Golf team made a strong impression at the Northeast Elite Invitational, hosted by Penn College clinching the title with a remarkable three-under-par total. This marked the Bantams' inaugural participation in the tournament, making their victory even more significant. The tournament took place at Williamsport Country Club in Williamsport, PA, featuring a par of 71, a yardage of 6,516 yards, and a slope rating of 128.
Sophomore Thomas Chalfant entered Sunday's round tied for sixth place with a score of 70 (-1) but surged into third by finishing the weekend at 138 (-4), matching Penn College's Peyton Mussina.
Charlie Mullin had a solid performance, tying for sixth after shooting even par on Sunday. He had started the final round in fifth place with a 69 (-2), showcasing his talent and leadership for the team.
Senior Benjamin Boyd also made a notable climb, finishing in eighth place after moving up from eleventh, wrapping up the tournament with a score of 143 (-1). Overall, the Bantams' strong showing highlights their potential as a formidable force in collegiate golf.
"It feels awesome to get a win against some great competition this weekend." Head Coach Jack Junge commented on his teams first place performance over the weekend. "Shooting under par both days is really impressive. I'm happy for the guys that they have something to show for the hard work they've been putting in. We're excited to get back to practice and build on our success"
Trinity College will travel to Saratoga Springs, N.Y, on October 12th for Skidmore Fall Invitational at Saratoga Spa Golf Course. The first round on Saturday will begin at 10AM.
