Dear Trinity Men's Track & Field and Cross Country Community,
As a junior neuroscience major and a member of the Trinity track & field team, I have come to deeply value the lessons of teamwork, discipline, and resilience that this sport has instilled in me. Track & field, often seen as an individual sport, has shown me that even the most solitary events require immense collaboration and support. Whether it's encouraging a teammate before a race or celebrating a personal best together, the sense of unity within the team is undeniable. We push each other to be better, knowing that our individual success contributes to the overall strength of the team.Â
Discipline is at the core of our training and academic lives. As a student-athlete, the balance between my rigorous neuroscience courses and daily practice sessions has taught me time management and perseverance. The discipline required to juggle both demands has shaped me into a more organized and focused individual, with a deeper understanding of the importance of consistency.
Perhaps the most valuable lesson, however, has been resilience. Track & field has shown me that setbacks, whether in training or competition, are not failures but opportunities to grow. When I face challenges, I think back to the countless hours of practice that have made me stronger—both physically and mentally. The resilience I've developed on the track has translated into resilience in all aspects of my life. It's this combination of teamwork, discipline, and resilience that continues to shape me as an athlete and as a person.Â
Thank you for all you do for our program, we are so grateful for your support during TAG Week and year round.Â
