CLINTON, N.Y. – The Trinity College Football team rolled over host Hamilton College, 49-0, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tilt at Steuben Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Continentals slide to 1-4 overall.
What Happened:
- After forcing the Continentals to punt on their opening drive, the Bantams orchestrated a nine-play, 90-yard drive, capped by a three-yard touchdown run from Tyler DiNapoli to put Trinity ahead 7-0.
- Hamilton threatened on their following possession, using a seven-play, 46-yard drive to move into Bantams territory, but Julian Pollard delivered a crucial sack on fourth down to halt the Continentals efforts.
- The Bantams extended their lead to 14-0 early in the second quarter as Jaxon Carroll spotted Jack Tosone wide open in the corner of the endzone to punctuate a 12-play, 71-yard drive.
- Following an inadvertent whistle and penalties that negated a pair of touchdown runs, Carroll connected with Nick Behrens on an 11-yard touchdown pass, his first career touchdown catch, to push the Bantams to a 21-0 lead with 8:11 remaining in the first half.
- On third-and-1 with just over five minutes on the clock, Tosone ripped off a 43-yard tote to set up Trinity in the Continentals redzone. Three plays later, DiNapoli rumbled into the endzone from two yards out to build a 28-0 lead for the Bantams.
- On the opening drive of the second half, Tate Hoffmeister took a check-down pass on second down, weaved through the Continentals defense and raced 71 yards for a career-long touchdown to increase the lead to 35-0.
- On Hamilton's ensuing possession, Alec Medwar made a sliding interception to set up the Bantams on the Continentals 35-yard line. Josh Woodford used five carries to reach paydirt and give Trinity the 42-0 advantage with 11:14 remaining in the third quarter.
- The Bantams executed an 11-play, 68-yard drive, taking nearly seven minutes off the clock, featuring a one-handed catch from Darison Hooper and capped by a one-yard touchdown from Drake Bellisari, his first career score, to put Trinity on top 49-0.
