Women's Squash Aim to Defend Title in Upcoming 2025-26 Season

| By:
HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Squash team enters the 2025–26 season ranked No. 5 in the College Squash Association (CSA) Preseason Poll. The Bantams will open their campaign with a pair of New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchups, beginning at Williams College on Saturday, November 15, at 2 p.m., followed by Tufts University on Sunday, November 16, in the newly added Kovas Squash Center.

Trinity concluded the 2024–25 season ranked No. 1 after capturing its second consecutive CSA Howe Cup National Championship title. The Bantams finished the regular season with a 12–1 record, suffering their first loss since the 2022–23 season in a hard-fought 5–4 match against Princeton University. In NESCAC play, Trinity dominated the competition en route to its 18th consecutive conference championship, defeating Wesleyan, Williams, and Tufts.

For the 10th time in program history—and the fourth straight season—the Bantams placed six players on the All-NESCAC teams. Alumna Jana Safy capped her senior year by earning NESCAC Player of the Year honors, becoming the third Bantam in program history to win the award multiple times. Safy was joined on the All-NESCAC First Team by Janna El Ashmawy and Malak Moustafa, while alumna Noa Romero and current seniors Kara Lincou and Hannah Chukwu earned Second Team recognition.

Lulu Palacios '25 earned a silver medal at the CSA Individual Championships, finishing as the runner-up in the Holleran East Division after a four-game battle against Yale's Mika Bardin.
For the ninth time in program history, Trinity earned four CSA All-America honors. Returning senior Chukwu was named to the Second Team alongside graduates Moustafa (First Team), Safy, and Romero (Second Team). Chukwu collected her second All-America distinction, becoming the 51st player in program history to earn multiple national honors. The 2023 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, Chukwu also secured her third consecutive All-NESCAC Second Team selection after posting a 14–2 record, including a 4–2 mark in CSA individual play.

"Last season's national championship victory is a testament to our hard work, resilience, and team spirit. While we celebrate our success, we also embrace the challenge of our upcoming season with even greater determination,"commented head coach Lauren Patrizio as she enters her second season with the Trinity Women's Squash program.

The 2025–26 Bantam roster features 14 student-athletes, including nine returners: seniors Kara Lincou, Zaynab Khan, Hannah Chukwu, and Fabiola Cabello; juniors Varvara Esina and Princess Davenport; and sophomores Elisenda Ruiz-Kaiser Ferrer,
Varvara Kliueva, and Kitsy Fox. Trinity welcomes five first-years: Zaina Zaidi, Milena Velychko, Thanusaa Uthrian, Doyce Lee, and Malak Aly.

"We have a strong group of returning players with Kara Lincou and Hannah Chukwu leading the way as co-captains. Our first years are making a big impact already and we are excited to get our season underway," Added Patrizio

With a strong returning core and an infusion of young talent, the Bantams are poised for another competitive season as they look to defend their national and conference crowns.
