Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey | | DeVaux

Women's Hockey Shutout by #15 Mules, 3-0

WATERVILLE, Me. – The Trinity College Women's Ice Hockey team fell to the Fifteenth-ranked Colby College, 3-0, in the second game of their New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) series. The Bantams drop to 9-8-0 overall and 6-4-0 in NESCAC play, while the Mules improve to 11-4-2 overall and 4-4-2 in conference action.

The opening period saw both teams held scoreless, Trinity fired 6 shots on net, but were unable to send one past Colby's goalie Mandy Busky.

In the second period, Colby struck twice. The first goal came at 5:30 from Molly Lefebvre, assisted by Lulu Gray and Maria Pierce. The Mules added another power-play goal at 16:47, with Georgia Pettygrove finding the back of the net to give Colby a 2-0 lead. Trinity fired 9 shots in the period, but Busky kept the Bantams off the scoreboard.

Colby sealed the win in the third period, as Beth Sinson scored the Mules' third and final goal at 13:43, securing a 3-0 victory.

The Bantams were outnumbered in the penalty department, earning just two penalties while Colby had seven opportunities, converting one of them.

Trinity's Madeline Carter recorded 30 saves in the loss, including 2 in the first period, 9 in the second, and 7 in the third. Colby's Mandy Busky earned the shutout with 22 saves.

The Bantams will remain on the road, heading to Middlebury College for a two-game NESCAC series starting on Friday, February 7th at 7:00 PM.
