NESCAC Men's Basketball Championship Semifinal Preview: #3 Tufts

HARTFORD, Conn. – The second-seeded Trinity College Men's Basketball team will square off with third-seeded Tufts University in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Basketball Championship Semifinals at Silloway Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
 
Bantam Bytes
  • Trinity holds a 22-3 record and finished with an 8-2 record in NESCAC play.

  • Trinity is seeking to become the sixth team to win back-to-back NESCAC Men's Basketball Championship titles, and the first since Middlebury in 2016 & 2017.

  • Junior Jarrel Okorougo is the fourth-leading rebounder in the league, grabbing 6.9 boards per game, while ranking third in Field Goal Percentage (.524) and tenth in Blocks (0.8).
  • Junior Drew Lazarre came up just shy of a triple-double in the win over Colby, tallying a game-high 11 rebounds, 10 points and a game-high eight assists.
  • Vetter posted a game-high 19 points, while Okorougo recorded 14 points with six rebounds.

  • The Jumbos are the second-highest scoring team in the NESCAC, averaging 78.0 points per game, but allowed the fourth-most points per game to opponents (65.1).

History
  • All-time, the Bantams are 49-39 against the Jumbos, dating back to their inaugural meeting during the 1905-06 season.
  • Trinity is riding a four-game win streak over Tufts, including an 81-45 victory earlier this season.
  • The Bantams registered a trio of victories over the Jumbos last season, including wins in the NESCAC Men's Basketball Championship Semifinals (80-68) and the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Sweet 16 (70-53).
