BOSTON, Mass. – The Trinity College Women's and Men's Indoor Track and Field teams had several standout performances at the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend, held at The Track at New Balance in Boston.
Friday Highlights:
The Bantams kicked off the competition with impressive results, including four All-New England performances and two school records broken. Senior Nolan McKenna set the tone with a strong performance in the 600m, finishing 5th overall and breaking his own school record with a time of 1:20.25.
The women's 4x200m relay team, consisting of senior Savannah Cece, sophomore Ava Dubois, first-year Jenna Najjar, and first-year Jillian Strynar, also made history, breaking the school record and finishing 5th with a time of 1:43.26.
In the field events, sophomore Peter Passaro had a standout performance in the men's shot put, coming from flight one to set a huge personal best of 14.81m (48'7.25"), placing 7th overall.
The women's distance medley relay team, made up of junior Ali Gall, first-year Jenna Najjar, first-year Paige Orr, and senior Viv Jacobs-Townsley, finished 8th overall with a time of 12:41.15.
Saturday Highlights:
The second day continued the Bantams' success. Jillian Strynar earned a second-place finish in the 60m dash and set a new school record in the 200m, clocking in at 25.05.
In the men's 400m, Zuri Johnson set a new personal best, breaking the school record, which was later rebroken by McKenna in the next heat with a time of 48.68.
In the women's heats, Jenna Najjar also ran a personal best in the 400m.
The meet concluded with the men's 4x400m relay team of first-year Liam Kelly, senior Lars Sippel, senior Nolan McKenna, and junior Zuri Johnson securing a third-place finish and breaking their school record by nearly two full seconds, with a time of 3:17.32.
