CLAREMONT, Fla. - The Trinity College Softball team split its doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at THE Spring Games in Claremont, Fla., defeating the University of New England (UNE) 11-2 before falling 11-3 to Ramapo. The Bantams now hold a 2-3 record on the young season, while UNE drops to 3-3 and Ramapo remains undefeated at 7-0.
GAME 1: Bantams Defeat Nor'Easters

Trinity struck early in the first inning when Isabella Callagna singled to left field, advancing to second on a UNE fielding error. This allowed Emily Goddard to cross home plate, giving the Bantams a 1-0 lead.

In the third inning, Abigail Alper launched a two-run home run over the left field fence, scoring Taylor Mikolajzcak and extending Trinity's lead to 3-0. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, Hannah Mullaney delivered an RBI single to left field, bringing home Kennedy Rogers and pushing the lead to 4-0 entering the fourth inning.

UNE responded with their first run of the game when E. Michaud hit an RBI single. However, the Bantams quickly answered in the bottom half of the fourth, as Mikolajzcak tripled to center field, scoring another run. Alper followed with an RBI single to center, and Callagna added a two-run single to right, sending home Alper and Goddard to extend the lead to 8-1.

Trinity sealed the win in the fifth inning with three additional runs. Mikolajzcak singled for her second RBI of the game, and Alper capped off her stellar performance with her second home run of the game—a career-best—marking her fifth RBI of the matchup. The Bantams secured the 11-2 victory via the five-inning run-rule.

Pitcher Tiffany Stowers threw all five innings for Trinity, recording one strikeout while allowing two runs on seven hits, including one home run.
GAME 2: Roadrunners Defeat Bantams

Trinity opened the scoring in the first inning when Abigail Alper doubled down the left field line and scored on a throwing error by the left fielder.

Ramapo took control in the third and fourth innings, building a 4-1 lead. The Bantams cut into the deficit in the fifth inning when Emily Goddard drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing home Mikolajzcak to make it 4-2. Senior Hannah Mullaney then delivered an RBI single up the middle, scoring Kennedy Rogers to bring the Bantams within one at 4-3.

However, Ramapo pulled away in the bottom of the sixth, as R. Ariel crushed a grand slam to center field, extending the Roadrunners' lead to 8-3. They added three more runs in the seventh to seal the 11-3 non-conference victory.

Annie Konieczka started in the circle for the Bantams, pitching 5.2 innings while registering two strikeouts, allowing nine hits, and surrendering eight runs. Zofia Sargent came in as relief in the sixth inning, finishing the game by allowing two hits and three runs.
Trinity will look to bounce back in their next matchup as they continue competition at THE Spring Games.
