No. 15 Trinity Women's Lacrosse Tops Bates, 16-12, in NESCAC Battle

LEWISTON, Maine – The 15th-ranked Trinity College women's lacrosse team secured a 16-12 victory over Bates College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup on Friday evening. With the win, the Bantams improve to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the Bobcats fall to 6-4, 2-3.

Four Bantams recorded hat tricks in the win: Ivy Armentrout, who also tallied two assists and one ground ball; Kelsey Restivo, who added an assist; Sarah Marvin, who contributed an assist, one ground ball, and one caused turnover; and Kaeley Zito, who picked up a ground ball.

Senior Brooke Kurtz netted two goals and an assist, while Grace Denious and Rebecca Strouch each added a goal.

In goal, Olivia Aguirre started for Trinity, making six saves while allowing 10 goals. Junior Ali MacDougall took over in relief, stopping three shots and allowing just two goals for a .600 save percentage.

Trinity jumped out to a commanding 6-1 lead after the first quarter, outshooting Bates 13-5 in the frame, including a player-up goal from Restivo at 7:30 to extend the advantage. The Bantams added four more goals in the second quarter, but Bates responded with six, narrowing the gap to 10-7 at halftime.

The third quarter saw an early goal from both teams, making it an 11-8 game with 12:20 remaining in the frame. The Bobcats added two more goals, cutting Trinity's lead to just one heading into the final quarter.

The Bantams sealed the conference win with a dominant 5-2 run in the fourth, outshooting Bates 7-5 and converting two of four free-position attempts.

Both teams registered 31 shots, but Trinity held key advantages in ground balls (22-17) and caused turnovers (6-5). The Bantams were efficient in transition, successfully clearing 19 of 21 attempts compared to Bates' 15 of 21.

Trinity remains on the road for another NESCAC showdown against Connecticut College on Wednesday, April 2, at 5 p.m. in New London, Conn.
