HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Tennis team hosted the Smith College Pioneers on Thursday afternoon at the Trinity College Field House, where the Bantams defeated the visiting Pioneers 6-1 in a non-conference matchup.

The Bantams' duo of first-year Kendall Cedar and sophomore Naisha Rathi secured a 6-2 victory over their Pioneer opponents in doubles action. However, Trinity dropped the doubles point, falling 2-1 after a match point was surrendered to Smith College.

Trinity dominated in singles play, sweeping all six matches. Allie Francis cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory, while Cedar followed up with a 6-3, 6-4 win. Elise Brennan defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-2, and Hellena Trojer delivered a commanding 6-0, 6-1 performance.

Ella Baker, after winning the first set 6-2, dropped the second set 4-6 to Natazya Simunyola but came back strong in the third, winning 7-4 tiebreaker to secure her singles match. Naisha Rathi clinched the win for the Bantams in the final match of the day, prevailing 6-3, 7-6 to complete the singles sweep.
