Strong Performances Across the Board for Trinity Track & Field at Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Trinity College women's and men's outdoor track and field teams turned in a series of standout performances across two days of competition in the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College this past weekend.

Field Events Highlights:

The Bantams were well-represented in the men's decathlon, with Davis Wheat and Emanuele Chiappinelli showing strong all-around efforts. Wheat posted top-five finishes in eight of the ten events, including 2nd in discus and long jump, and 3rd in the shot put, pole vault, and javelin throw. Chiappinelli followed close behind with a 2nd-place shot put finish and strong showings in the discus, javelin, and 400m.

In the men's discus, Andrew Williams placed 8th, followed by Noah Falvey in 9th. For the women, Amaya Sakallahhad an impressive meet, finishing 1st in the hammer throw, 5th in the discus, and 6th in the shot put.

Lauren Grattan earned 2nd in the women's high jump (1.46m), with Chloe Hartigan taking 5th (1.41m). In the men's pole vault, Ryan Martin placed 8th (3.65m), and Jamie Tolk cleared 2.20m for 10th.

In men's shot put, Pete Passaro took 7th (12.57m) and Andrew Williams was 13th (11.96m). Andrew Moran claimed 8th in javelin with a 44.00m throw.

Donovan Koukal-Kollie soared to 1st in the men's triple jump with a 13.66m mark, earning a spot at #32 in the NCAA Division III Northeast rankings.

Sprints and Hurdles:

In the men's 100m, Arinze Okigbo finished 5th (11.11), with Zuri Johnson in 7th (11.26). On the women's side, Jillian Strynar captured 1st (12.34), followed by Brooke Scott (4th, 13.07) and Ava Dubois (6th, 13.12).

Savannah Cece placed 5th in the women's 100m hurdles, while Ryan Martin took 9th in the men's 110m hurdles.

Johnson also claimed 1st in the men's 200m (21.92), hitting a NCAA DIII qualifying time and jumping to #106 regionally. Charlie Young added a top-ten finish with 22.66. Cece and Dubois ran 7th and 8th in the women's 200m.

Mid-Distance and Distance Events:

In the 400m, Charlie Young placed 10th for the men, and Jenna Najjar took 2nd for the women in 1:00.96. Jack Darling secured 7th in the men's 400m hurdles (59.91).

In the men's 800m, James Maciel Andrews and Quinlan McGlame finished top 30, while Larson Sippel, Tyler Johnson (20th), and Evan Farnan (42nd) competed in the elite division. On the women's side, Kerry Gannon ran to 11th in the open 800m, while Paige Orr and Madison Gargiulo placed top 30 in the elite race.

Lauren Hunt ran 6:02.11 in the 1500m (30th), while Ava Del Vescovo finished 26th in the elite division (5:05.71). In the men's 1500m, T.J. Sparno (7th, 4:30.01) and Teddy Salamone (8th, 4:31.59) led the open race. In the elite division, Sam Benham placed 8th (4:02.21), with Dolan Pols (20th) and Calix McCormick (24th) also making the top 25.

Brendan Burm placed 10th in the men's 3000m steeplechase elite race (10:11.26), while Piper Moris finished 4th in the women's steeplechase (13:41.29).

In the men's 5000m elite race, Jack Hutchins finished 27th and Jack Blanchfield 34th. On the women's side, Vivian Jacobs-Townsley, Paige Jaenicke, and Maggie Furer all placed in the top 25 in the elite division. In the open race, Zoe Maggioni and Margaret Spuler impressed with 3rd and 5th place finishes, respectively.

Alex Willard (26th) and Kevin Rogers (33rd) both finished top 35 in the men's 10,000m elite race.

Relays:

The women's 4x100m relay team of Savannah Cece, Jillian Strynar, Jenna Najjar, and Ava Dubois ran to a 2nd-place finish with a time of 50.12.

Up Next:
The Bantams return home to host the annual Trinity Invitational on Saturday, April 19, starting at 10:30 a.m. at Jessee/Miller Field.
