HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Softball team shut out visiting Mitchell College, 6-0, in a non-conference game at the Trinity Softball Field Monday afternoon. The Bantams improve to 9-19 on the season, while the Mariners dip to 12-18-1 overall.

After two scoreless innings, the Bantams cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the third as
Taylor Mikolajczak roped an RBI triple to the right-centerfield gap, staking Trinity to a 1-0 lead. The Bantams added to their advantage in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single from
Hannah Mullaney, followed by an RBI triple from
Makenna True, the first triple of her collegiate career, to extend the gap to 3-0.

The Mariners threatened in the top of the fifth, loading the bases with two out, but Trinity starter
Zofia Sargent extinguished the effort, forcing a pop out to end the frame.
Kennedy Rogers tacked on an RBI bloop single in the fifth, and then two runs came around on a Mariners error in the sixth.

Mullaney had a pair of hits for Trinity, while Mullaney, Mikolajczak and True each tallied an extra-base hit with an RBI. Sargent logged her 14
th complete game of the season, and her first career complete game shutout, allowing a season-low two hits with three strikeouts.

The Bantams will be back on the diamond when they host Wesleyan for a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) doubleheader at Trinity Softball Field on Saturday. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
