Adamski Earns Win #200 as Baseball Clips #3 Gulls, 15-10

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Baseball team defeated visiting third-ranked Endicott College, 15-10, in their regular season finale at Murren Family Field at DiBenedetto Stadium Tuesday afternoon. The Bantams rise to 18-15 on the season, while the Gulls dip to 31-4 overall.

With the victory, Trinity College Head Coach Bryan Adamski earned his 200th victory at Trinity College, and sits fourth all-time in program history in coaching wins. The Bantams halted the Mammoths 23-game win streak with the victory.

The Bantams jumped on the Gulls early as Tyler Bernstein blasted a leadoff home run over the centerfield fence, followed by an RBI single from Aidan Stern to put Trinity ahead 2-0. Aidan Stevenson plated another pair of runs with a double off the left-centerfield fence to hand the Bantams the 4-0 lead after the first inning.

The Gulls loaded the bases in the top of the second but Trinity starter Quintin Sotero was able to induce an inning-ending groundout to preserve the 4-0 advantage. In the bottom of the frame, the Bantams added to the lead with a two-run double from William Sawyer and another RBI single from Stern to build a 7-0 gap.

The Bantams plated runs for the third straight inning as Bernstein laced an RBI double into the left-centerfield gap, and then, with the bases loaded, Bernstein and Timothy Domizio raced home on a wild pitch, extending the lead to 10-0. The Gulls brought home three runs in the fourth behind an RBI groundout from TJ Liponis and a two-run double from Kyle Grabowski, cutting the lead to 10-3.

Trinity offense kept cranking in the fourth, plating five runs in the inning, beginning with Stern coming home on a balk. The Bantams followed with RBI knocks from Domizio, Luis Saldivia, and Bernstein, who would later score on a failed pick-off attempt at third base to push Trinity ahead 15-3.

The Gulls narrowed the gap over the next two innings as James Benestad belted a grand slam over the left field fence in the sixth, followed by an RBI double from MacDougall and sac fly from Frammartino in the seventh to set cut the Trinity lead to 15-10. Tyler Colditz deliver 2-plus innings of scoreless relief to lock up the 15-10.

Bernstein went 3-for-6 with a double, a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored. Stern added three hits with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Stevenson and Sawyer each drove in a pair. Peter Murphy collected his first career victory in relief, while Sotero gave up three runs on four hits in 3.2 innings of work.

The Bantams will be back on the diamond for the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Quarterfinals against Amherst College. The Bantams will play a doubleheader against the Mammoths on Saturday, followed by a single game on Sunday if necessary.
