Women's T&F Finish 7th at the UMASS Flagship Opener

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Trinity College women's and men's outdoor track and field teams turned in several strong performances at the UMass Flagship Opener, hosted by UMass Amherst on Saturday, April 5 at the UMass Track & Field Complex.

Standout Performances from the Bantams

In the Field

  • First-year Lauren Grattan and sophomore Gabrieanne Chery both cleared 1.53 meters in the women's high jump to tie for sixth place.

  • Donovan Koukal-Kollie leapt to a second-place finish in the men's triple jump with a mark of 13.46m, just shy of the winning distance of 13.86m.

  • Sophomore Amaya Pendleton placed ninth in the women's shot put (11.31m) and secured eighth in the hammer throw with a 44.37m effort.

  • In men's shot put, sophomores Pete Passaro (13.20m) and Noah Falvey (12.51m) finished eighth and tenth, respectively.

  • Andrew Moran placed eighth in the men's javelin with a throw of 44.55m.

  • In the men's hammer throw, Trinity had a strong trio: Andrew Williams (39.83m), Noah Falvey (38.82m), and Pete Passaro (37.50m) placed consecutively.

On the Track

  • The women's 4x100m relay team of Savannah CeceAva DuboisJenna Najjar, and Jillian Strynar earned third place with a time of 49.16.

  • The men's 4x100m relay team — Arinze OkigboZuri JohnsonNolan McKenna, and Connor Quiet — finished fourth in 42.80.

  • Sophomore Dolan Pols placed fifth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:17.75.

  • First-year Jenna Najjar ran a 1:00.39 in the women's 400m, finishing sixth.

  • Junior Zuri Johnson posted an eighth-place finish in the men's 400m dash (50.76), and followed with a strong third-place showing in the 200m dash (22.45).

  • Jillian Strynar picked up right where she left off indoors, winning the women's 100m dash and finishing second in the 200m.

  • First-year Tyler Johnson secured a top-10 finish in the men's 800m with a time of 1:58.90, good for seventh.

  • Senior Jack Darling placed fourth in the men's 400m hurdles (59.83), with first-year Ryan Martin coming in sixth (1:05.29).

  • In the 5000m run, sophomore Alex Willard (16:06.48) and junior Saqlain Anjum (16:41.11) both finished in the top ten.

The Bantams will return to action next weekend at the two-day Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College in New London, Conn. Competition begins Friday, April 11 and continues through Saturday, April 12, with events starting at 1:45 p.m.
