MEDFORD, Mass. – The fourth-ranked Trinity College Women's Rowing team collected five victories against Tufts University and the United States Coast Guard Academy at Shoemaker Boat House Saturday afternoon.
 
The Bantams 1V8 boat was edged by reigning National Champions Tufts by five seconds, but the Trinity 2V8 boat captured a seven-second victory over the Jumbos.
 
Trinity swept Coast Guard Academy across a quartet of races, including a nearly four-second victory in the 1V8 race to secure the Bantams first Admiral Linda Fagan Cup. The 2V8 boat won by 29 seconds, the 3V8 boat crossed the finish line nearly 13 second ahead of USCGA, and the 4V8 boat picked up a victory with nearly a 20-second cushion.
 
"We always love racing here since the competition is great and the one on one Henley Style racing is pretty fun to race and to watch," said Trinity Head Coach Peter Graves. "The Varsity 8+ had a heck of a race against the defending national champions, Tufts Varsity 8+.  The 2v had an outstanding race, beating the Tufts 2v by 7 seconds.  This was the first time we have beaten Tufts in any of the boat classes since I've been coaching here, so that was a solid result for them.  Both the 3v and 4v raced competitively but came up short against a very deep Tufts team. We had 3 athletes who walked onto our team this spring.  After 6 weeks of rowing, they raced in their first race against Tufts and then notched their first win in a rowing race against Coast Guard, which is a great accomplishment. All in all, this was a solid first race for the team.  There was plenty to learn from today and work on this upcoming week.   We are looking forward to being back in action on the racecourse in Worcester, MA this coming Sunday."
