WORCESTER, Mass. -
The Trinity Women had a solid day of racing at NIRCs on the morning of Sunday, May 11th. The Bantams rowed fast but in challenging conditions leading to season-best 2000m times across all boats, making for an exciting day on the water.

In the morning heats, all three eights qualified for the Grand Finals. The Third Varsity Eight (3V) sprinted to a 2nd place finish in 7:08.0. The Second Varsity Eight (2V) dominated their heat, winning by 7 seconds in a blazing 6:43.4. The First Varsity Eight (1V) came in a close second to Bates, just 3.9 seconds back.

The afternoon kicked off with the Fourth Varsity Eight (4V), who were eager to race after a three-week break. After a strong second-half surge, they edged out Smith by 0.08 seconds to take 4th in 7:17.0. The 3V faced a setback early in their final but fought hard to finish 6th. In a high-stakes 2V Grand Final, the Bantams battled Tufts and came away with a proud 3rd-place finish—Trinity Women's Rowing first 2V medal since 2015.

The 1V final was a tightly contested race, with all crews within a boat length through the middle. Our 1V ultimately placed 6th in 6:41, just four seconds shy of a medal.

"There are plenty of great highlights from racing at NIRC's, but we were left feeling a bit disappointed with the results." Commented Head Coach Peter Graves.   "The team kept their chins up knowing their coaches and the Trinity Rowing family was proud of them.  At the end of the day we gave it everything we had and that's all we can ever do."

"The competition in the NESCAC right now is awesome and its been great racing it up knowing that on any given day the results could change.  I am very proud of this team and the tremendous work they've put in all season. We will be tuning into the NCAA DIII Women's Rowing selection show will be on Tuesday at 4:30pm. It's unfortunate that one of the top 5 teams in DIII rowing will be left out of the National Championship race, but that's the way rules are. We are thankful we've had opportunities to go neck and neck with the best of DIII this season and we hope we have another crack at the podium, maybe without exams next time!"
