HARTFORD, Conn. – Nine student-athletes from the Trinity College Women's Rowing team have been recognized as Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar-Athletes, the organization announced Tuesday.
The CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award honors collegiate rowers who exhibit exceptional dedication both academically and athletically. To be eligible, student-athletes must be in at least their second year of eligibility, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the end of the fall semester, and meet all institutional and conference eligibility rules. Athletically, honorees must have rowed in at least 75% of the team's spring races in an NCAA or IRA (lightweight) eligible boat, or competed in an NCAA boat at their conference championship.
Eight of Trinity's nine honorees earned the distinction for a consecutive year. Seniors Alley Johnson (Lincolnville, Maine | Anthropology) and Camille Schubert (Lake Oswego, Ore. | Chemistry) were joined by juniors Erin Barbakoff (Owings Mills, Md. | Public Policy & Law), Julianna Boris (Newton, Mass. | Anthropology/Religious Studies), Eleanor Burke (Chicago, Ill. | Computer Science), Kaitlyn Mackin (Hadley, Mass. | Economics/Public Policy & Law), Allie Newman (Concord, Mass. | Public Policy & Law), and Sophia Romano (Warwick, R.I. | Public Policy & Law). Sophomore Juliana Golas (Manchester, Conn. | Chemistry) earned the honor for the first time.
The Bantams recently capped off a strong season with a sixth-place finish at the 2025 National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) and the NESCAC Championship. Notably, Trinity's second varsity eight placed third at NIRCs, earning the program's first 2V medal since 2015.
