Willimantic, Conn. – The Trinity College women's volleyball team continued its success in non-conference play, earning a 3–1 victory over Eastern Connecticut State University on Friday evening in Geissler Gymnasium. With the win, the Bantams improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Warriors suffer their first loss, falling to 3-1.
What Happened:

The Bantams opened the night with back-to-back set wins by identical 25-19 scores to take a 2-0 lead.

The Warriors built a five-point lead early in the final set, but the Bantams chipped away, eventually seizing a three-point advantage that they held the rest of the way to secure match point.

First-year Emma Ewart, senior Maggie Barnes, and senior Ellie Gordon each finished with double-digit kills. Ewart led all players with 14, while Barnes and Gordon tallied 11 apiece.

Maya Hall added six kills, five block assists, one solo block, one dig, one assist, and one service ace in the victory. Hall and Annette Schlunk recorded Trinity's only service aces.

Junior Catalina Hendricks handed out a career-high 22 assists with 11 digs. Senior Caroline Howell tallied 17 assists with 12 digs, while senior Scarlett Jago chipped in seven assists.

Four Bantams finished with double-digit digs, led by Ewart (12). Hendricks added 11, while Bella Nash and Sarah Jeremias each totaled 10.

Trinity dominated the attack column, producing 60 kills with a .288 hitting percentage, while the Warriors managed 48 kills at a .156 clip.

ECSU held a 9-2 tilt in service aces, with four errors to Trinity's nine.

The Bantams posted the lone solo block of the match and added 16 block assists, compared to zero for the Warriors.

Trinity collected 75 digs and 57 assists, while Eastern finished with 63 digs and 42 assists.

The Bantams head to Northfield, Vt., for a non-conference tri-match with Norwich University and Vermont State University–Castleton on Saturday, September 6. Trinity will face the Spartans at 1 p.m., followed by the Cadets at 3 p.m.

The Bantams will meet Norwich for just the second time, after sweeping the Cadets 3-0 in their first meeting last season. The matchup with Castleton will be the program's inaugural meeting.
