Men's Soccer Battles Bates to 1-1 Draw

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Soccer team and visiting Bates College played to a 1-1 tie in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opener at Trinity College Soccer Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams move to 1-0-1 on the season, while the Bobcats sit at 1-0-1.
 
What Happened:
  • With just over 12 minutes remaining in the first half, first-year Silas Lawrence threaded a ball from the Bantams defensive backfield through the midfield to senior Kieran McCabe, who beat Bates keeper George Nassar to his left side, staking Trinity to a 1-0 lead.
  • The Bobcats evened the score with less than two minutes remaining in the first half as junior Craddock Bridge played a corner kick which deflected off a Bantams defender and first-year Chris Bianco headed the loose ball past Bantams senior keeper Nate Dyott.
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • The Bantams held an 11-6 advantage over the Bobcats in the shot column.
  • Trinity edged Bates in corner kick opportunities, 8-7.
  • The Bantams were whistled for 14 fouls while the Bobcats received 11 fouls calls.
  • Trinity senior Nate Dyott (1-0-1) made two saves, while Bates George Nassar stopped a game-high five shots.
