WATERVILLE, Maine – A thrilling 3–2 overtime victory vaulted the Bantams to their tenth consecutive win over Colby College, a streak dating back to 2022 and featuring last season's 1–0 shootout decision. Trinity improves to 9-5-0 overall and 3-5-0 in NESCAC play while the Mules dip to 8-5-2(4-4-1 NESCAC)
How It Happened
Colby controlled much of the opening frame, outshooting Trinity 18–1 and striking first when Dhillon Wilde buried a feed from Colby Browne at 15:00, sneaking the puck over the right shoulder of goaltender Devon Bobak for a 1–0 edge.
At 3:35 of the second period, the Mules doubled the lead, 2–0, on a goal by Max Abene assisted by Jayden Grier and Matthew MacDonald. Joseph Harney generated four shots in the frame to press for an answer, while Blake Cottonforced two saves from Cooper Rautenstrauch. Jason Zaccari, Connor Sedlak, Spencer Korona, Ryan Friedman, and Ian Spencer each put chances on net, but the Bantams remained scoreless through two.
Trinity broke through just 52 seconds into the third when James Barbour deposited his fifth of the year off a feed from Friedman to make it 2–1 with nearly a full period to play. At 6:00, senior Spencer Korona found the equalizer, 2–2, finishing a sequence started by Harney and Brendan Dumas. Trinity poured on 10 shots in the frame to Colby's 5, but neither Bobak nor Rautenstrauch budged again, sending the contest to extra time.
Only 3:59 into overtime, first-year Jason Zaccari called game. After Ryan Panico stripped Grier in the neutral zone, Zaccari crossed the blue line and wired a low shot from the right circle that beat Rautenstrauch's back left skate for the NESCAC winner and the Bantams' third straight victory.
