Mammoths Freeze Bantams Friday Night, 4-2

AMHERST, Mass. – The Trinity College men's ice hockey team surrendered three third-period goals in a 4–2 loss to host Amherst College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle Friday evening at Orr Rink. The Bantams fall to 9–8 overall and 3–8 in conference play, while the Mammoths improve to 9–6–2 on the season and 4–6–1 in the NESCAC.

What Happened

Trinity jumped out to a 2–0 lead after the opening frame. Brendan Dumas opened the scoring six minutes into the contest, finishing a play set up by Spencer Korona and Nolan Hayes. The Bantams doubled their advantage in the second period when Connor Sedlak found the back of the net at the 7:14 mark off a feed from Ian Spencer.

Amherst got on the board late in the second period, capitalizing on the power play with just over five minutes remaining. Andrew Carmody scored for the Mammoths, with assists from Josh Burke and John Small.

The Mammoths evened the score just 46 seconds into the third period as Caden Olenczak tallied the equalizer, assisted by Cristobal Tola and Ray Hou. Amherst then broke the tie late in the game, as Josh Burke netted the go-ahead goal at 18:28. Vincent Velocci added an insurance goal into the empty net at 19:22 to seal the 4–2 victory.
