Late Strike Lifts #14 Conn College Over Men's Soccer, 1-0

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Soccer team battled fourteenth-ranked Connecticut College to a 1-0 defeat in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle at Silfen Field and Track Tuesday night. The Bantams move to 6-4 overall and 2-4 in conference play, while the Camels rise to 6-2-1 and 4-2-1 in the NESCAC.

What Happened:
  • The Bantams applied early pressure as Owen Myers fired a shot that was turned away by Con College keeper Casey Shea.
  • Trinity keeper Jake Davis denied a shot from Dylan Hoke in the 14th minute to maintain a scoreless game, and then looked to grab the lead with an attempt from Dillon Reilly in the 30th minute, but Shea provided another save for the home squad.
  • Davis came up big in the opening minutes of the second half with a pair of saves in a four-minute span. The Bantams thought they found the go-ahead tally, playing a long throw-in into the box with the ball falling on the head of Owen Myers, who redirected the ball towards the cage. Shea was able to dive and get a hand on the ball to keep it out of the net.
  • After Davis delivered another stop in the 83rd minute, Conn finally broke through as Max Weiss controlled the ball on the near sideline and played a soft pass into the path of Gavin Mpiana, who carried it into the box. Mpiana got to the byline, sending a pass across the face of the goal, where Anish Reid was waiting to tap it home, and send the Camels to the 1-0 win.
