HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College Football junior
Darison Hooper (White Plains, N.Y.) was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week, announced on Tuesday. This is Hooper's first D3football.com Team of the Week honor, and he's the first Bantam wide receiver to be selected since Michael Galligan in 2008.
Hooper delivered the third-best wide receiver performance in program history during a 26-23 victory over Middlebury to move the Bantams to 7-0 on the season. Hooper amassed 13 receptions for 197 yards and three touchdowns, setting career-highs in all three categories. The junior hauled in a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter to hand Trinity a 13-7 lead at the half, and then added 35-yard touchdown reception midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 20-7.
For the season, Hooper has registered career-highs in receptions (25), receiving yards (408), touchdowns (5) and yards per game (58.3). Hooper is tied for second in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in receiving touchdowns and eighth in receiving yards.
Hooper and the Bantams (7-0) be back next weekend in a battle of undefeated teams as they travel to Amherst College (7-0) for 1 :00 p.m. kickoff at Pratt Field at Lehrman Stadium. All-time, Trinity owns a 51-60-9 record against the Mammoths, dating back to their first meeting in 1886. The Bantams are riding a seven-game winning streak versus Amherst, outscoring the Mammoths, 225-60, over that span with Trinity averaging 32.1 points per game. Last season, Trinity captured a 14-7 victory over Amherst at Jessee/Miller Field.
