Bantams Fall 1-0 to Top-Seeded Middlebury in NESCAC Quarterfinal

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Trinity College Women's Ice Hockey team fell to host and No. 1 seed Middlebury College in the quarterfinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Ice Hockey Tournament. The Panthers advanced to the semifinals with a 1-0 victory over the Bantams on Saturday afternoon.

Trinity closes its 2026 season at 7-15-3 overall (3-10-3 NESCAC), while Middlebury improves to 17-4-4 (10-2-3) and continues its postseason run.

Earlier in February, the Bantams hosted the Panthers for a regular-season series, dropping game one, 6-2, followed by a 4-1 defeat in game two.

What Happened

  • The lone goal of the contest came in the 11th minute of the opening period, when Middlebury's Avery McInerny scored at even strength. Trinity Walsh and Live Fernandez were credited with assists.

  • Trinity held the edge in shots on goal during both the second and third periods but was unable to find the equalizer. The Bantams outshot the Panthers 17-13 in the second period and held a 7-4 advantage in the final frame.
