HADLEY, Mass. – Trinity College Men's Basketball senior
Jarrel Okorougo (Stoneham, Mass.) was selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.
Okorougo takes home his second Player of the Week selection of the season after propelling the second-ranked Bantams to their third straight NESCAC Men's Basketball Championship, averaging 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, a block, and an assist on Trinity's run to the title. In the championship game win over Wesleyan, Okorougo helped ignite a second-half comeback with 11 straight points out of the break to hand Trinity a 41-35 lead, finishing with a team-high 20 points, five rebounds, and two steals en route to the 80-55 win. The senior captain tallied 14 points with a game-high nine rebounds in an 80-70 victory over Tufts in the semifinals.
Okorougo and the Bantams earned the top-seed in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Tournament and will host Keuka University in the First Round on Friday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m.
