Lazarre Named DPOY as Bantams Land Three All-Conference Nods

HADLEY, Mass. – Three members of the top-ranked Trinity College Men's Basketball team were selected to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Basketball All-Conference squads, announced by the conference office Wednesday. Seniors Henry Vetter (Kenilworth, Ill.) and Jarrel Okorougo (Stoneham, Mass.) received First Team status, while classmate Drew Lazarre (West Haven, Conn.) was tabbed as the league's Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-Conference.
 
Vetter becomes the fourth player in program history to earn three All-Conference designations, and just the second player to claim three First Team selections, joining Tyler Rhoten (2004-06). Vetter ranked third in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.400), fourth in total assists (78), total steals (45), steals per game (1.7), seventh in assists per game (2.9) and ninth in the league in scoring, averaging nearly 14 points per game.
 
Okorougo joins Vetter in the three-time All-Conference club and becomes the first player in program history to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors and two-plus First Team selections. Okorougo ranked sixth in the conference in scoring, averaging a career-high 15.8 points per game, seventh in total steals (36) and steals per game (1.3), ninth in rebounding (6.6) and field goal percentage (.484).
 
Lazarre becomes the sixth player in program history to receive Defensive Player of the Year status, and just the third player to be named DPOY and earn two-plus All-Conference selections, joining Okorougo and Ed Ogundeko. Lazarre led the league in steals (65) and steals per game (2.6), while posting 10.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game with 66 assists and 21 blocks. Lazarre shot 42.3% from the field, including 37.3% from three-point range.
 
With their sixth DPOY award, Trinity moves out of a tie with Middlebury College (5) for most in conference history. The Bantams become the second program in conference history to claim three consecutive DPOY awards, joining Middlebury (2009-11). Trinity becomes the first program in conference history to win three straight DPOY awards with three different players.
 
 The Bantams earned the top-seed in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament and will face off with Keuka College in the First Round on Friday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Ray Oosting Gymnasium.
