HADLEY, Mass. – Trinity College Baseball sophomore
Timothy Domizio (Fairfield, Conn.) was selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Baseball Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday. This is Domizio's first Player of the Week honor, and he's the 3rd Bantam to win the award this season, joining
Aidan Stern and
Luis Saldivia.
Domizio led Trinty to a 3-1 week, which included a 12-11 win over Endicott and a NESCAC Quarterfinal series win over Wesleyan. Domizio finished the week, batting .500 and slugging 1.188 with eight hits, eight runs scored, 11 RBI, a pair of doubles, and three homers as he helped power the Bantams to their second straight NESCAC Championship Weekend appearance. Against Endicott, Domizio went 4-for-5 with five RBI and three runs scored. With the Bantams trailing 10-7 after seven innings, Domizio's three-run homer in the top of the eighth proved to be enough to lead Trinity past the Gulls. In a NESCAC Quarterfinal series win Domizio posted a 1.326 OPS with six runs batted in, five runs scored and two home runs. In a 12-2 win over the Cardinals in the series opener, Domizio scored on a wild pitch and then belted a two-run go-ahead home run as part of a four-run sixth inning. Domizio struck again in Game 3, driving in four runs on two hits, including a home run, with three runs scored as Trinity advanced with a 12-2 victory.
Domizio and the Bantams will return to NESCAC Baseball Championship Weekend for the second straight season, and welcome Tufts University, Amherst College and Middlebury College to Murren Family Field at DiBendetto Stadium. The Bantams will face the Mammoths on Friday, May 8 at 5:00 p.m. Tufts and Middlebury will square off at 1:30 p.m.
