Trinity Continues Clean-Sweep Streak, Takes Two on the Road

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The Trinity College women's volleyball team remained unbeaten Saturday afternoon, collecting a pair of 3-0 victories over Eastern Connecticut State University and Worcester State University at Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium. The Bantams improved to 5-0 on the season with their fourth and fifth consecutive straight-set victories.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Eastern Connecticut State
  • Trinity came out strong in the opening set, using an efficient offensive attack to take control early and secure a 25-15 victory.
  • The Bantams carried the momentum into the second set, again holding the Warriors to 15 points to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
  • Eastern Connecticut battled closely with Trinity in the third set, but the Bantams closed out the 25-21 win to complete the straight-set sweep.
  • Trinity finished the match with 48 kills and a .310 hitting percentage while holding Eastern Connecticut State to a .027 hitting percentage.
  • Emma Ewart and Amy Boller led the Bantams with 18 kills apiece. Ewart hit .424 with 14 digs registering her first double-double of the season, fifth career, while Boller posted a .567 hitting percentage.
  • Trinity controlled the net with 20 total block assists, led by Chloe Gentile with six and Maya Hall with five.
Worcester State
  • The Bantams continued their strong afternoon with a dominant opening set against Worcester State, cruising to a 25-11 victory.
  • Trinity took a 2-0 advantage after capturing the second set, 25-17, before closing out the sweep with a 25-15 victory in the third.
  • Trinity recorded 42 kills with a .293 hitting percentage while limiting Worcester State to 20 kills and a .020 hitting percentage.
  • Chloe Gentile, Annette Schlunk and Erica Biner paced the Bantams with seven kills apiece as Trinity featured a balanced offensive attack.
  • The Bantams added 10 service aces, with Scarlett Jago recording three and Schlunk adding two.
  • Jago anchored the Trinity defense with a match-high 17 digs, while Biner added nine.
  • Maya Pace and Keira Sky Pierce both landed double-digit assists in the match, Pace with 14 and Pierce with 10.
