SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Trinity College field hockey team picked up its second straight victory Wednesday evening, defeating Springfield College, 2-1, under the lights at Stagg Field. The Bantams improve to 3-2 overall, while the Pride move to 3-2.
How It Happened
- Trinity controlled the opening quarter, holding Springfield without a shot while putting five attempts toward the Pride cage.
- Senior Brooke DiBiase broke through in the 20th minute, finding the back of the cage off an assist from Riley Harrington to give the Bantams a 1-0 advantage.
- The Bantams carried the one-goal lead into halftime after holding Springfield without a shot through the opening 30 minutes.
- Trinity doubled its advantage at the 37:42 mark. After back-to-back saves by Springfield goalkeeper Sam Orcutt, Julia Lambert cleaned up the rebound to put the Bantams ahead, 2-0.
- Springfield got on the board late in the fourth quarter as Rachel Simkewicz converted a penalty stroke at 55:46, cutting Trinity's lead to 2-1.
- The Bantams held off the Pride over the final four minutes to secure their second consecutive win.
