DANBURY, Conn. – The Trinity College women's volleyball team bounced back after dropping the opening set to Western Connecticut State University Wednesday evening, taking the next three sets to secure a 3-1 non-conference victory over the Wolves inside Stephen Feldman Arena.
The Bantams responded with a dominant 25-5 second-set victory before closing out the match with 25-16 and 25-11 wins in the final two frames. Trinity improves to 8-3 overall, while WestConn falls to 3-11.
How It Happened
- Set One – WestConn, 25-18: The Wolves took the opening set after holding Trinity to 11 kills with nine errors on 27 attempts for a .074 hitting percentage. WestConn tallied nine kills and hit .250 in the frame.
- Set Two – Trinity, 25-5: The Bantams responded in dominant fashion, registering 13 kills without an attack error on 20 attempts for a .650 hitting percentage. Trinity held the Wolves to just two kills and a -.120 hitting percentage.
- Set Three – Trinity, 25-16: Trinity continued to control the match in the third set, tallying 13 kills with just three errors for a .323 hitting percentage. WestConn registered nine kills while hitting .114.
- Set Four – Trinity, 25-11: The Bantams closed out the match with their strongest offensive frame, recording 16 kills with only two errors on 30 attempts for a .467 hitting percentage. Trinity held WestConn to four kills and a -.034 hitting percentage to secure the 3-1 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Amy Boller led the Bantams with 13 kills while hitting .348 and added five service aces and 11 digs.
- Trinity Fore registered 12 kills without an error on 16 attempts for a match-high .750 hitting percentage. Fore also led Trinity at the net with six total blocks, including two solo blocks.
- Chloe Gentile and Maya Hall each added six kills, with Gentile hitting .556 and Hall posting a .294 hitting percentage.
- Maya Pace dished out a team-high 22 assists, while Catalina Hendricks added 17.
- Senior Scarlett Jago anchored the Bantams' defense with a match-high 19 digs, while Boller added 11.
- Trinity finished the match with 53 kills, 45 assists, 60 digs, nine service aces and seven total blocks while hitting .361 as a team.
