Ten Men's Soccer Seniors Honored As Bantams Of The Week

Hartford, Conn. - The second Bantams of the Week of 2020 fall season has been selected.  With the postponement of intercollegiate competition for Trinity's fall teams, we will be honoring our fall senior student-athletes as Bantams of the Week.  These athletes have been denied the opportunity to compete in their final traditional season by the COVID-19 outbreak, but are working hard and safely at practice to prepare for a final chance to compete as Bantams this spring.  This week's honorees are men's soccer senior tri-captains James Marden (Marblehead, Mass.), Dagoberto Nunez Jr. (Barranquilla, Colombia), Andrew Shea (Somerset, Mass.) and seniors Andrew Clark (Short Hills, N.J.), Nigel Gustave (Baltimore, Md.), David Luongo (Danvers, Mass.), John Mullin (Falmouth, Maine), Charlie Olson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio), Phineas Santello (Arlington, Mass.), and Avee Vadgama (Mumbai, India).  Trinity Athletics created the Bantams of the Week award to spotlight two outstanding student-athletes who have performed at an extremely high level while representing the Bantams in varsity sporting competition.  

Marden, a two-year captain, played in and started seven games on defense in 2019.  A graduate of Marblehead High School, Marden is majoring in economics at Trinity. He is the son of Kristan and Donald Marden. 

Nunez played in 12 games with eight starts in the Bantam midfield last fall, scoring a goal and assisting on another.  A graduate of St. Andrew's School in Rhode Island, Nunez is majoring in biology at Trinity. He is the son of Lidys and Dagoberto Nunez. 

Shea played in 12 games with one start as a back and a forward for the Bantams in 2019, scoring once.  A graduate of Deerfield Academy, Shea earned NESCAC All-Academic honors in both 2018 and 2019 as an economics major at Trinity.   

Clark played in eight games with five starts in goal for the Bantams in 2019, totaling 55 saves in 450 minutes of play. A graduate of Millburn High School, Clark earned NESCAC All-Academic honors in 2018 as a double major in electrical engineering and physics at Trinity.  He is the son of Elizabeth and Jonathan Clark.

Gustave played in 12 games with six starts in the Bantam midfield last fall, assisting on one goal.  A graduate of Baltimore City College High School,Gustave is majoring in anthropology at Trinity.  He is the son of Allyson and Lawson Gustave.   

Luongo played in 12 games on defense for the Bantams in 2019.  A graduate of St. John's Prep High School, Luongo is majoring in psychology at Trinity.  He is the son of Elena and Tony Gustave.

Mullin played in 10 games with eight starts in the Bantam midfield last fall, assisting on one goal.  A graduate of Falmouth High School, Mullin earned NESCAC All-Academic honors in 2018 and 2019 as a history major at Trinity.  He is the son of Colleen O'Connor and Chris Mullen.

Olson has made 14 appearances and four starts over three seasons for the Bantam defense.  A graduate of University High School, Olson earned NESCAC All-Academic honors in 2018 as an economics major at Trinity.  He is the son of Jane and David Olson.

Santello played in nine games with one start at forward for the Bantams in 2019.  A graduate of Arlington High School, Santello is majoring in political science at Trinity.  He is the son of Sandra Miller and Mark Santello.

Vadgama played in 10 games with four starts in the Bantam midfield last fall.  A graduate of the Kent School in Connecticut, Vadgama is majoring in political science at Trinity.  He is the son of Sajida and Munaf Vadgama.
