BEFORE TRINITY: Three-time team MVP, four-time all-district, and an All-State selection in high school...State leader in saves in his junior and senior year in high school...also starred scholastically in soccer.

PERSONAL: Son of Diederick and Amy Van der Velde...mother played field hockey and softball for the Bantams and father played baseball and golf at Providence College...uncle, Murphy, played baseball for the Bantams.
