Caitlin Hitchcock

Head Coach Caitlin Hitchcock begins her 17th season as the head coach of the Trinity softball team in 2018-19, after guiding the Bantams to a 17-14 overall record and a third-place finish in the East Division of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) last spring. In 2018, Hitchcock coached seven players who hit .300 or better and nine players who had on base percentages of .370 or better.

In 2017, Hitchcock earned NESCAC Coach of the Year honors for the second-consecutive season, as the Bantams qualified for their second-straight NESCAC Championship Tournament. The Bantams scored the fourth-most runs in program history (180), drove in the third-most runs (161), set a new program record with 59 doubles, and paced the league in walks last spring. Trinity boasted nine players who hit .280 or better and nine players who had on base percentages of .360 or better.  During the season, Hitchcock saw rookie pitcher Lindsay Golia, sophomore catcher Nicole Towner, sophomore SS Courtney Erickson, and junior 2B Michelle Treglia earn All-NESCAC honors, while eight players earned NESCAC All-Academic distinction for their hard work in the classroom.

The Bantams have posted winning conference records in eight of the last 12 seasons and are a consistent contender for the NESCAC Championship.  Trinity has earned a berth to the league playoffs in eight of the last 14 seasons, missing the post-season by a single game despite a 7-5 division mark in both 2013 and 2014, and advanced to the NESCAC Championship game in 2007. Hitchcock is 260-253-1 in her 16 seasons as the program’s head coach, including a 240-220 mark since 2005. In 2017, Trinity became the first team in NESCAC history to sweep a series against Tufts University and ended the Jumbos' 65-game NESCAC East winning streak, dating back to 2011, in the first game of the series.

Hitchcock was an assistant coach at the College in softball in 2001 and 2002 and was an assistant with the volleyball squad for 10 years. Hitchcock also serves as a physical education instructor in the Trinity athletic department. In addition, she was an assistant coach for the Bantam women's basketball team in 2001 and 2002.  Hitchcock earned her bachelor's degree from Trinity in educational studies and her master's degree from the College in American Studies. She starred as an all-league catcher for the Bantam softball squad and served as captain of the softball and basketball teams in her senior season.
