Molly Rathbun

Molly Rathbun

Molly Rathbun begins her fourth year as Trinity College's head softball coach in 2023, although she just completed her first full season coaching for the Bantams in 2022. Trinity's 2020 season was canceled before the first game due to the COVID-19 pendemic and Rathbun was on maternity leave during the short 2021 campaign. Rathbun coached the Bantams to a 19-14 record with a 10-game midseason win streak and a NESCAC Semifinals appearance this past spring.  Rathbun joined the Bantams from Muhlenberg College where she has been the head coach for three seasons, helping the Mules to their highest win total in five years in 2019.

Rathbun was a four-time All-American pitcher at Eastern Connecticut, where she earned her bachelor's degree in health and physical education in 2012.  She led the Warriors to three Little East Conference championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances and two national finishes in the top five (third in 2010 and fifth in 2011).  Rathbun compiled a four-year record of 103-14 with a 0.88 ERA in the circle while batting .390 with 28 home runs. She pitched nine no-hitters and finished her career holding school records for appearances, innings, starts, wins, winning percentage, strikeouts, saves, complete games, shutouts, home runs, total bases, slugging percentage and runs batted in.

Rathbun has coached seven all-conference players and a Golden Glove Award recipient.  Rathbun also has experience as an assistant softball coach for two years at her alma mater and for two seasons at Springfield College while earning her master's degree in sport and exercise psychology.  She was inducted into the Eastern Connecticut State University Athletics Hall of Fame in October of 2019.
