Middlebury, Vt. - The Middlebury College Panther men's soccer
team remained unbeaten, picking up a 3-0 shutout win over the
visiting Trinity College Bantams this afternoon. The loss
snaps a five-game winning streak for the Bantams and drops them to
7-2 overall and 3-2 in the NESCAC, while the Panthers, ranked No. 1
in New England and No. 4 in the nation, remain unbeaten at
6-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the league. Trinity, ranked No. 3
in New England, had made its first appearance in the National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III National
Poll since 1999 today at No. 22.
Following a scoreless first half, Middlebury got on the board at
the 55:37 mark. Stephen Hart scored his first of the season,
converting a short crossing pass Baer Fisher. The game remained at
1-0 until just under 21 minutes later, when Micah Wood quickly
turned and fired from 16 yards out on the left wing, tucking a shot
inside the far post. Tyler Macnee scored at 82:03,
sealing the win fro Middlebury as he converted a corner kick feed
from Nolan Lincoln. Senior Zac Trudeau (Norwell,
Mass.) made eight stops in goal for the Bantams.
