Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore Peter Marlette
(Buffalo, N.Y.) scored two goals to lead the Trinity
College Bantams to a 2-1 win over the visiting Connecticut College
Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)
men's soccer action this afternoon. Trinity, ranked No. 4 in
New England and No. 24 in the nation, improves to 7-1-1 and 3-1-1
in the league, while the Camels fall to 5-2-1 and 3-2 in the
NESCAC.
Trinity took a 1-0 lead on Marlette's first goal twenty minutes
into the game, as the junior curled the ball in on a corner kick
that was caught by the Canel keeper before he was bumped and landed
in his own goal, and increased their lead to 2-0 after
Marlette buried a penalty kick in the 56th minute of action for his
second goal of the game. Sophomore Amadi Thiam
(Westfield, N.J.) cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal in the
77th minute for the Camels, who ran out of time in their bid for a
comeback.
Sophomore goalkeeper Grant Schonberg (Mendham,
N.J.) made eight saves to lead the Bantams, while senior
goalkeeper Alex Martland (Marblehead, Mass.) made
ten saves for the Camels. The Bantams have allowed just six
goals in nine games this season.
