Hartford, Conn. - Junior Austin Woolridge (South Orange,
N.J.) and senior Asante Brooks (Princeton,
N.J.) scored a goal apiece in the final 13 minutes of the
game to lead the Wesleyan University Cardinals to a comeback 2-1
win over the Trinity College Bantams in men's soccer action this
afternoon on Campus Field. Trinity, ranked No. 22 in the
nation, suffers their first loss of the season to fall to 5-1-1 and
2-1-1 in the NESCAC, while the Cardinals, ranked No. 4 in New
England, improve to 5-0-1 on the year and 3-0-1 in the
league.
Junior midfielder Peter Marlette (Buffalo,
N.Y.) scored Trinity's lone goal in the seventh minute of
action to give the Bantams an early lead, but the Brooks goal with
just over four minutes remaining turned out to be the game-winner.
Sophomore goalkeeper Grant Schonberg (Mendham,
N.J.) made eleven saves in net for the Bantams while
freshman Adam Purdy (Montclair, N.J.) made six
saves to lead the Cardinals.
Trinity will host Westfield State on Wed., Oct. 7 at 4 pm. in a
game that will be webcast live on www.trincoll.tv.
