Bowdoin Women's Ice Hockey Blanks Trinity 3-0

Hartford, Conn. - Freshman goalkeeper Sage Santangelo (Leporte, Colo.) made 23 saves to lead the Bowdoin College Polar Bears to a 3-0 shutout win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink.  Trinity falls to 12-8-2 overall and 7-6-1 in the NESCAC with the loss, while Bowdoin improves to 8-10-1 and 5-9-1 in the league, with their six straight victory.

Bowdoin scored late goals in each period starting with one from senior Lindsay McNamara (Milton, Mass.), who scored just 11 seconds before the end of the first period to put the Polar Bears up 1-0.  Bowdoin sophomore Jill Campbell (Dartmouth, N.S.) added another in the second with less than three minutes remaining in the period.  Freshman Dominique Lozzi (Reading, Mass.) followed up with a third goal midway through the final period to put the game out of reach for the Bantams.

Trinity junior goalkeeper Isabel Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.) made 31 saves on the afternoon.  It was the final home game of the season for the Bantams, and the last home game for Trinity seniors Michele Chee (San Francisco, Calif.) and Kelley McCarthy (Kingston, Mass.).

The Bantams will visit NESCAC rival Colby for a two-game series on Feb. 20 and 21 to close the regular season.
