Hartford, Conn. - Freshman goalkeeper Sage Santangelo
(Leporte, Colo.) made 23 saves to lead the Bowdoin College
Polar Bears to a 3-0 shutout win over the Trinity College Bantams
in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's
ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink. Trinity
falls to 12-8-2 overall and 7-6-1 in the NESCAC with the loss,
while Bowdoin improves to 8-10-1 and 5-9-1 in the league, with
their six straight victory.
Bowdoin scored late goals in each period starting with one from
senior Lindsay McNamara (Milton, Mass.), who
scored just 11 seconds before the end of the first period to put
the Polar Bears up 1-0. Bowdoin sophomore Jill
Campbell (Dartmouth, N.S.) added another in the second
with less than three minutes remaining in the period.
Freshman Dominique Lozzi (Reading, Mass.) followed
up with a third goal midway through the final period to put the
game out of reach for the Bantams.
Trinity junior goalkeeper Isabel Iwachiw (New York,
N.Y.) made 31 saves on the afternoon. It was the
final home game of the season for the Bantams, and the last home
game for Trinity seniors Michele Chee (San Francisco,
Calif.) and Kelley McCarthy (Kingston,
Mass.).
The Bantams will visit NESCAC rival Colby for a two-game series on
Feb. 20 and 21 to close the regular season.
