New London, Conn.-- Junior forward Britney McKenna (Rye,
N.Y.) tallied two scores and classmate Isabel
Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.) stopped 41 shots in goal as the
visiting Trinity College Bantams notched a 4-0 shutout victory
against the Connecticut College Camels in New England Small College
Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this
afternoon. Trinity improves to 12-6-2 overall and 7-4-1 in
the NESCAC while the Camels fall to 6-10-4 overall and 5-5-2 in the
league. It was the third straight win for the Bantams. After
winning four in a row, the Camels have now dropped two straight.
Laura Komarek (Plymouth, Minn.) and
Celia Colman-McGaw (Manchester, Conn.) chipped in
with scores for the visitors. Connecticut College junior
Sara Christopher (Andover, Mass.) had 43 saves in
the setback for the hosts. McKenna opened the scoring at 4:22
of the first period. The Bantams doubled their lead on Komarek's
goal with 12:41 remaining in the first. The Camels out-shot
the Bantams 23-to-12 in the middle period but could not find the
back of the net. With 7:25 to play in the second, McKenna
added an insurance goal for Trinity to make it a 3-0 game.
The visitors added another score in the third period to close out
the 4-0 victory.
