Williamstown, Mass. - Senior Torrey Taussig (Larchmont,
N.Y.) had a goal and an assist to lead the Williams
College Ephs to a 3-2 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams
in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's
ice hockey action this afternoon. Trinity, ranked No. 4 in
the nation, falls to 14-3-2 overall and 7-3-2 in the NESCAC with
its second loss in as many days, while Williams improves to 8-7-1
and 6-3-1 in the league with its third victory in a row.
Williams never trailed, scoring twice in the first period,
before Trinity junior tri-captain forward Kim Weiss
(Potomac, Md.) scored from sophomore forward
Hannah Harvey (Silverthorne, Colo.) 6:54 into the
second frame. Taussig and Lauren Zurek (Plymouth,
Minn.) assisted Nicolle Perry (Mohegan Lake,
N.Y.) on the gamewinner at 11:53 of the second.
Junior forward Jill Roloff (West Seneca.) scored
in the third period to bring Trinity back within one 5:10 into the
third frame, but Williams goalie Sara Plunkett (Barrington,
R.I.) held Trinity at bay the rest of the way.
Plunkett finished with 38 saves and Trinity senior tri-captain
netminder Isabel Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.) stopped
17 shots.
