Hartford, Conn. – Senior tri-captain forward
Luke MacDougall (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) totaled 14
points, eight rebounds, and three assists, and classmate
Brian Ford (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with a team-high
17 points to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 77-50 win over
the Norwich University Cadets in the Golden Bears Hoop Classic at
Western New England College this evening. The season-opening
win gives the Bantams a ticket to the championship game of the
tournament tomorrow, at a time yet to be determined.
Trinity senior co-captain Jarrod Pimm (Chelmsford,
Mass) scored 13 points and collected five rebounds in the
game, while freshman Kevin Lubin (Winnetka, Ill.)
had a strong all-around performance in his collegiate debut,
picking up eight points, three rebounds, three assists, and three
steals in 21 minutes of
action.
Trinity, which led 31-28 at the half, shot 55 percent from the
floor, while holding the Cadets to just 28 percent shooting on the
evening, and just 15 percent shooting in the second half.
Trinity outscored Norwich 46-22 in the second half. Trinity
will face the winner of tonight's matchup between Lesley
University and host Western New England College, at a time yet to
be determined.
