Weiss Ties Trinity Record For Career Goals
Stamford, Conn. - Senior tri-captain forward Kim Weiss (Potomac, Md.) had a goal and an assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-2 victory over the Manhattanville College Valiants in women's ice hockey action this evening at Terry Connors Rink. Trinity, playing in its season opener, hands the Valiants, ranked No. 8 in the nation, their first loss in four games. Manhattanville drops to 6-2. Weiss tied Michelle Chee'09 for the most goals in College history with 41.
Trinity opened up a 3-0 lead after two periods, beginning with a power-play tally by senior forward Jill Roloff (West Seneca, N.Y.) 10:33 into the game. Bantam sophomore defender Britney Ryan (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) scored the second Bantam goal midway through the second stanza, also on the power play, and Weiss added un assisted, short-handed marker with one minute left before the second break. Trinity freshman goaltender Alexa Pujol (New Canaan, Conn.) enjoyed a fine collegiate debut with 35 saves, including 25 stops in as many shots during the opening 40 minutes. Tori Pizzuto (Waterbury, Conn.) broke the scoring drought for the Valiants 4:13 into the third period, and sophomore Lauren Nutkevich (Montreal, Quebec) pulled Manhattanville within one at 3-2 with a goal 4:32 later, but Trinity held on the rest of the way.
