McNamara Goal Gives Trinity Women's Ice Hockey Win Over Connecticut College

Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore forward Hillary McNamara (Milton, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal with 5:10 remaining in the third period to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1 win over the visiting Connecticut College Camels in New England Small College Athletics Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this afternoon at Williams Rink.  Trinity improves to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the NESCAC, while the Camels drop to 2-2 overall and in the league.

McNamara received a pass behind the Connecticut College defense from junior forward Celia Colman-McGaw (Manchester, Conn.) and deked Camel sophomore goalie Amy Leichliter (Westchester, Pa.), beating her glove side for the clinching marker.  The Camels had tied the game 3:00 into the third frame, when sophomore forward Samantha Schuffenecker (Oswego, N.Y.) backhanded in a rebound after a shot by junior forward Jillian Dolliff (Excelsior, Minn.) was stopped by Bantam freshman netminder Alexa Pujol (New Canaan, Conn.).  Trinity withstood a 15-9 shot deficit to the Camels in the third period, after holding a 24-18 edge in shots over the first forty minutes of play, as Pujol made 14 of her 32 saves in the final stanza.  Leichliter made 31 stops for Connecticut College.  Trinity freshman forward Emily Kleidon (Oakdale, Minn.) scored the only goal of the first two periods.
