Thousand Oaks, Calif. – The California Lutheran
University Kingsmen posted a 6-3 home victory over the
Trinity College Bantams in men's tennis action this
afternoon. The No. 10-ranked Kingsmen completed a stretch of
nine consecutive wins over teams ranked among the top 30 in the
nation to improve to 13-0, while No. 15-ranked Trinity drops to
1-1. The Kingsmen used a sweep in doubles and wins by Nick Ballou,
Justin Wilson and John Karsant to seal the match.
California Lutheran swept the doubles to take a quick 3-0 lead, as
Kingsmen Andrew Giuffrida and Ballou teamed up for an 8-0
victory at No. 1 doubles over Bantam senior
tri-captain Spencer Feldman (Upper Brookville,
N.Y.) and sophomore Anson McCook (Miami,
Fla.) to open up the match. Feldman, ranked No.
22 in the nation among singles players, downed Giuffrida,
ranked N. 8 nationally, in the No. 1 singles match, while sophomore
Rich Bonfiglio (Bronxville, N.Y.) and freshman
Dan Couzens (West Hartford, Conn.) also earned
singles wins for Trinity.
