New London, Conn. - The visiting Trinity College Bantam
women's tennis team secured an 8-1 victory against the
Connecticut College Camels in a New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) match played on the South Tennis Courts this
afternoon. The Bantams improve to 4-3 with a 1-2 record
in conference play. The Camels slip to 6-6 and are 1-3 in NESCAC
matches this spring.
Trinity freshman Hillary Hoyt (New York, N.Y.)
notched a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles to lead the visitors.
Hoyt paired up with senior captain Olivia Merns (New York,
N.Y.) in an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Connecticut
College junior Caroline Barone (North Kingstown,
R.I.) and freshman Cassie Smith (Shelburne,
Vt.) salvaged a point for the hosts with an 8-5 victory at
second doubles.
