Trinity Men's Soccer Suffers Overtime Loss To Bates

Hartford, Conn. –  Senior Patrick Jackson (Durham, N.H.) scored the game-winning goal in the 95th minute of action to lead the Bates Bobcats to a 2-1 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action this afternoon.  The Bantams fall to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in the league, while the Bobcats improve to 2-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the league.

Bates got the scoring started late in the first half with a goal from junior David Wood (Contoocook, N.H.).  The Bantams evened the score at 1-1 early in the second frame after junior forward Dan Mayernick (Gladwyne, Pa.) buried a shot in the upper left corner of the net.  The teams stayed even through the end of regulation before Jackson was able to finish the game in the first overtime period.

Bates junior goalkeeper Greg Watts (West Chester, Penn.) made ten stops for the win, while Trinity junior goalkeeper Grant Schonberg (Mendham, N.J.) stopped 11 shots on the afternoon.
