Hartford, Conn. -The visiting Yale University Bulldogs defeated the Trinity College Bantams, 6-3, in College Squash Association (CSA) women's action this evening at Kellner Center. Trinity, ranked No. 3 nationally, drops to 6-1 while the Bulldogs improve to 7-0.
Bantam sophomore Alicia Rodriguez (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) got the home team off to a strong start with a 3-0 win at the No. 6 position, but Yale freshmen Camilla Tomlinson (Derbyshire, England) and Lillian Fast (Greenwich, Conn.) each came back from 1-0 deficits to take 3-1 wins at No. 3 and No. 9, respectively. Yale junior Rhetta Nadas (Boston, Mass.), at No. 5, and freshman Gwendoline Tilghman (New York, N.Y.), at No. 8, each took 3-0 matches to give the visitors a 4-1 advantage, before Trinity junior tri-captain Pamela Hathway (Munich, Germany) won, 3-1, in the No. 2 match to keep the Bantams alive, down, 4-2. Trinity freshman Catalina Pelaez (Bogota, Colombia), ranked No. 8 in the nation among individuals, swept Yale senior captain Logan Greer (Berwyn, Pa.), ranked No. 3 nationally, in the No. 1 match, although Yale rookie No. 4 player Kim Hay (Newcastle, England) and sophomore No. 7 Katie Ballaine (Brooklyn, N.Y.) clinched the match with decisive wins.
